Two of the days my Mom was here in February we went to Dubai. We stayed at the Crown Plaza in Festival City, Dubai is huge compared to Abu Dhabi and has many sections all named. Dubai is very similar to Abu Dhabi just on steroids!! Everything is done bigger!!!
Dubai is also very overcrowded and more dusty and brown than green.
This is the main entrance to Ibn Battuta Mall. Named after a great traveler from the 1300's, seen here in the center of the display. Ibn Battuta spent his life traveling. Each section of the mall is themed to one of the places he traveled. It is all quite elaborate for a mall!
Andalusia.
India.
There's me by a huge boat in China. Imagine how large these areas are!
There was also Tunisia, Egypt, and Persia.
Mom by a shop in The Mall of the Emirates.
Half of the world's cranes are here in the U.A.E. This is the elevated train in Dubai that is supposed to help with it's traffic. Much of construction in Dubai had dried up since the economic down turn. Not as bad as other Countries, but still a big change for here.
Entering Dubai is a picture of the Crown Prince.
Many of the buildings have a "New York" look and feel to them.
First peak at the Burj Dubai way off in the distance.
Sand sculptures at the Marina Walk.
Dubai is huge and not as easy to get around as in Abu Dhabi.
Getting closer the the Burj Dubai. Still under construction with a crane at the top!
The view from the pool, can you see the Burj Dubai in the center left?
Relaxing at the pool, it was on the fifth floor overlooking the creek.
The Burj Al Arab, a seven star hotel that is probably the most recognized landmark in Dubai.
